REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, will visit Saudi Arabia on Thursday to "discuss the Yemen issue," Pakistani officials said on Wednesday (23/4).

It would be the third visit of top level Pakistani delegations to Saudi Arabia since Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched the operation "Decisive Storm" against the Houthi fighters after they dislodged Yemen's President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Saudi Arabia had found Pakistani fighter aircraft, warships and ground troops in the war against the Houthi. The country's parliament this month unanimously urged Pakistan to stay neutral in the Middle East conflict.

The Pakistani Prime Minister would be accompanied by Minister for Defense, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and several other senior officials.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Wednesday and discussed matters relating to the conflict in Yemen, the PM office said. The meeting was attended by key ministers and top military leaders.

"The Prime Minister welcomed the Saudi announcement of halting its airstrikes in Yemen and entering the phase of political dialogue," a Pakistani statement said.

"It was decided in the meeting that the Prime Minister would undertake a one-day visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia(KSA) tomorrow to discuss the evolving situation in Yemen and express solidarity with the people and leadership of KSA," it said.
