REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia will continue endeavor for full membership of Palestine in the United Nations as an independent country, a government official said.
Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto told reported President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on the sidelines of the ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference here on Tuesday (21/4).
"Palestine is the only country still suffering under occupation. This should be ended," Andi quoted the president as saying.
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah appreciated the support shown by Indonesia, Andi said.
"President Jokowi is friend of the Palestinian people. We are pleased with the support given by President Jokowi , who has express his commitment during his political campaign ahead of the last presidential election," the Palestinian Prime Minister was quoted as saying said.
President Joko Widodo had also met bilaterally with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
