REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his entourage tried the Beijing Airport Express Train in the Chinese capital city from Dong Zhi Men Station to Terminal 3 of the International Beijing Capital Airport.
The president boarded the train from Dong Zhi Men Station, which is integrated with the bus station for the line 2 and 13 routes.
The train, which provides a mode of transportation connecting the railway line with the airport, was operated specially for the president and did not halt at Sanyuangqio Station.
Jokowi boarded the train in 10:00 a.m. local time, headed to Terminal 3 of the airport, and then directly returned to Dong Zhi Men Station.
The fast train, which has four cars on each set, can reduce the time taken to travel to the airport from more than 30 minutes to only 25 minutes.
While traveling to the airport from downtown Beijing by car, it usually takes an hour during non-rush hours.
The ticket fare is 25 Chinese Yuan (USD4), which is cheaper than the 100 Yuan (USD16.1) it would cost to travel to the airport by taxi.
During his state visit to several countries, including Japan and China, President Jokowi tried several mass transportation means to find a transportation reference for Indonesia.
During his stay in Japan, Jokowi stated that Indonesia should have a Shinkansen high-speed train connecting Jakarta with either Bandung in West Java or with Surabaya in East Java.
