VP launches national program to eliminate tuberculosis

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice-President Jusuf Kalla has launched Stop TB (tuberculosis) National Strategy on the World Tuberculosis Commemoration Day 2015.

"All stakeholders should campaign through the media for eradicating tuberculosis," Kalla said here Tuesday.

The Vice-President noted that the number of people suffering from tuberculosis, malaria, smallpox and other infectious diseases has decreased.

"I encourage all the community leaders, health services, women's organizations, and mosque councils to actively campaign for the eradication of TB," Kalla remarked.

The Vice-President expressed optimism that the national strategy will succeed in eradicating TB.

Minister of Health Nila F Moeloek stated that Indonesia has managed to control TB to a great extent where TB service has covered increased areas and cured many TB patients.

Indonesia's national TB control strategy 2015-2019 uses cutting-edge technology to address various challenges in TB control, such as TB immune medicine.
