REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LANGKAT -- Most of the foreign tourists visiting North Sumatra's eco-tourism resort of Tangkahan, Batang Serangan, Langkat District in North Sumatra in 2014 were from the Netherlands.
"Most of the foreign visitors were Dutch tourists and they usually stayed for about two days on average," Edi Sunardi, the manager of the Conservation Response Unit of Tangkahan, said on Saturday.
He said foreign tourists visit the tourism resort to witness the beauty of Tangkahan, which shares borders with the Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL).
Other foreign tourists visiting the resort come from Germany, Australia, France, Great Britain and Spain, he said.
While enjoying the natural panorama of the tourist resort, visitors can also see tamed elephants, which can be ridden through the forest areas and to see water falls.
"We have three waterfalls here, namely the Lau Garut, Glugur and Gua Kambing waterfalls," Edi said.
The park also offers views of other attractive fauna, such as elephants, orangutans, deer and bears. It also has a wide variety of tree species, Edi remarked.
