Floods hit two sub-dictricts in Pamekasan, Madura

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PAMEKASAN -- Floods hit Pademawu and Kota sub-districts in Pamekasan District on Madura Island, East Java Province, submerging hundreds of houses.

"Floodwaters have risen since this morning, and inundated residential areas," Suhartini, an inhabitant of Laden village, Kota Sub-district, said here, Thursday.

The flooding triggered by the overflowing of Kalijombang River, also inundated a number of school buildings.

In the sub-district, three villages - Jungcangcang, Patemon and Laden, were affected by floods, he noted.

In Pademawu sub-district, Sumedangan and Pademawu villages were also flooded, he added.
