AirAsia flight with 162 people on board losses contact on Sunday

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GRESIK -- An AirAsia flight travelling from Surabaya to Singapore with flight number QZ 8501 has lost contact with air traffic control. The aircraft lost its contact only eight minutes after taking off. 

"We have lost contact with AirAsia flight," Corporate Secretary of Angkasa Pura I, Farid Indra Nugraha, said on Sunday, December 28.

The aircraft was flown at 05:20 am WIB and due to arrive in Singapore at 08:30 am at local time. The plane was predicted missing in Java Sea, between Semarang and Kalimantan.

There were 155 people on board and seven crew members. The crews are Captain Iriyanto, Remi Emmanuel Plesel, Wanti Setiawati, Khairunnisa Haidar Fauzi, Oscar Desano, Wismoyo Ari Prambudi dan Saiful Rakhmad.
