REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- Indonesia and Europe have signed agreement on preventing Indonesian endemic species from extinction. The species includes Java wild bull (Bos javanicus), anoa (Bubalus quarlesi) and hog deer (Babyrousa babirussa).

"The agreement is signed between Indonesian Zoo and Aquarium Association, Ministry of Forestry and European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA)," Secretary General of Indonesian Zoo and Aquarium Association Tony Sumampau said on Tuesday, November 11.

Director of Biodiversity Conservation of Ministry of Forestry Bambang Dahono Adji said, every zoo in Indonesia must carry out breeding. "Based on our observation, some zoos do not conduct breeding. It is a problem," he said.

Indonesia and Europe agree to cooperate on bull breeding. Indonesia, the only country having living anoa and bull, must protect the species through breeding.
