REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo delivered his resignation speech before Jakarta's Regional House of Representative (DPRD) during a plenary session on Thursday. He resigned from gubernatorial post after he won presidential election earlier this year.
"According to the law number 32 2004 on regional government, I tender my resignation adste won from governor of Jakarta post to prepare the inauguration on October 20," Jokowi stated.
"There is no rose without thorn. Truly, i apologize to the people of Jakarta and members of parliament if any wrongdoing during my tenure," he said.
By tendering his resignation, Jokowi hold his post for two years of five year term.
According to Chief of DPRD Jakarta, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, the legislative body will convene on Monday to deliver their official response. Since the resignation has been informally approved then the Monday's plenary session is expected to nil down Jokwi's resignation.
"No problem at all. All members have agreed on that so we need to make it official," Marsudi said.
Officially, after the legislative agrees on the resignation, then Jokowi must submit the letter to the president through Minister of Internal Affairs. He said Jokowi must includes the resignation letter signed by the legislative body.
