REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A member of the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) has said that the party may be approached by three others to form a coalition.

"I am convinced that two to three political parties will approach us," PDIP member Aria Bima said  on Wednesday after attending the inauguration of new members of the House of Representatives (DPR), the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD).

Bima stated that the United Development Party (PPP)---currently a part of the Red-White coalition---would join them to support the incoming Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla government. They had already been lobbying for it.

"With God's will, I am convinced (that PPP will join us). But it will be wiser to not hasten the process. For the sake of the future of Indonesia, I hope the process is smooth," he stated.

Bima hinted that the two other political parties that would approach them were the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Democratic Party.

"I know exactly what party leaders, including Jokowi (Joko Widodo), have done, but it would not be right to comment now," he remarked.

Although there has been considerable lobbying, Bima believes that besides PPP, a new political party could also be approached to form a coalition.

"I am convinced that it will all go smoothly. All lobbying been has been conducted transparently," he explained.

Bima noted that the entire process was not about winning or losing, but was more concerned with the political interests of all parties.

"PDIP wishes that the configuration in the DPR and MPR later reflects solidarity among us. If one party is already a member of the DPR, it must not strive for a seat in the MPR as well," he said.

Bima pointed out that parties had been lobbying by presenting substantive future functions of the DPR and MPR and optimizing their tasks, which were also the people's mandate.

"We must not compete for power in the DPR, as seen in the last five years, because it attracts criticism from the public. What we are offering is a model of collective leadership and leadership based on camps," he explained then added that the Golkar Party and Gerindra would remain a part of the Red-White coalition.
Furthermore, the general chairman of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Hidayat Nur Wahid, denied any division in the Red-White coalition.

"In principle, the Red-White coalition is for the people and does not function to serve the interests of the coalition alone," he affirmed the added that the coalition would keep monitoring the government decisions to act as a balancing power.
