REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, INCHEON -- The Indonesian badminton men's doubles duo, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, advanced to the Asian Games 2014 finals after defeating South Korean pair Kim Gijung/Kim Sarang.
Ahsan and Setiawan outplayed Gijung and Sarang in a rubber set 19-21, 21-16, 21-18 at Gyeyang Gymnasium here on Saturday (September 27).
In the finals on Sunday (Sept 28), the Indonesian men's doubles players will face another host duo, Lee Yongdae/Yoo Yeonseong, who defeated the Malaysian pair in the semifinals.
"We could have won the first game but lost due to our own mistakes," Ahsan said. "In the next game, we didn't concentrate on the first, but only focused on it (the second game)."
"We gave it our all and only thought about winning it," he added.
When asked whether they feel under pressure to bring home the gold medal, Ahsan said he felt normal.
"We don't feel the pressure. We are alright and free while playing the game."
While Ahsan said he didnt feel the pressure, Setiawan remarked that he was looking forward to taking home a gold medal from Asian Games 2014.
"I want a gold medal," he stated.
When asked about the supporters in the stadium, Setiawan noted that they gave his morale a boost. "The Indonesian supporters (at the stadium) were more aggressive than the host supporters. That was delightful," he exclaimed.
Most of the supporters were Indonesian migrant workers employed in South Korea.
