REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- New Zealand government keen to invest in East Java as satelite city to export their products to ASEAN market. New Zealand will export various processing products by using raw materials from East Java.

New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia, David Tylor met East Java governor, Soekarwo on Tuesday. He was accompanied by several delegations and they discussed the possibility.

Soekarwo explained that the dialogue between local government and New Zealand delegations was getting serious.

"They want to collaborate with us to sell its products in ASEAN market. East Java will be a transit location before entering market in South East Asia," Soekarwo said recently.

Indonesia has a priority relationship for New Zealand, with cooperation across a wide range of areas. It is the world’s sixteenth largest economy projected to be the seventh largest by 2030. With a population nearing 250 million and a growing consumer class, Indonesia is a key market for New Zealand’s exports.

Indonesian and New Zealand markets are complementary and largely non-competitive. Approximately 90 percent of New Zealand's exports to Indonesia are primary products (principally dairy products - about 43 percent - meat, wood pulp and other wood products).
