Naval chief inspects final preparation for Sail Raja Ampat

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, RAJA AMPAT - Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Marsetio inspected the final preparations for all warships, soldiers and locations hosting Sail Raja Ampat 2014 in Waisa Torang Cinta coast in Raja Ampat district, West Papua, on Friday.

During the inspection, Admiral Marsetio was accompanied by his assistant for operations, Rear Admiral Arief Rudiyanto, chief of the Indonesian Navy's information service Commodore Manahan Simorangkir.

Admiral Marsetio had a close look at dozens of warships and tens of ships conducting maneuvers during a rehearsal.

He also watched a number of soldiers from the Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion of the Navy's Marine Corps, led by Marine Major Fredy Ardianzah, conducting parachute jumps on the Waisai Torang Cinta coast. He further observed helicopter-water jumps by trained soldiers of the Amphibian Soldiers Command Unit of the Eastern Fleet Command, led by Col. Bramantyo.

Sail Raja Ampat is being held in Raja Ampat District, West Papua Province, from August 17 to 23, 2014. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to attend the main event of Sail Raja Ampat, which will be held in Waisai, on August 23. The highlight of the main event will be a parade of warships.

As part of the Sail Indonesia series, Sail Raja Ampat is the sixth festival, after Sail Bunaken in 2009, Sail Banda in 2010, Sail Wakatobi-Belitung in 2011, Sail Morotai in 2012, and Sail Komodo in 2013.
