REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -  The United Islamic Mass Organization Movement (GOIB) of Sukabumi district, West Java, is anticipating the entry of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) ideology, GOIB Deputy Chairman Agus Firmansyah said.

"We strongly reject the entry of the ISIS ideology into Indonesia, particularly the Sukabumi district, because it is against Muslim teachings and the state ideology of Pancasila," Agus emphasized on Thursday.

Therefore, he called on the Muslims in Sukabumi to remain vigilant and not be misled by the ISIS ideology, which contradicts the true teachings of Islam. Agus remarked that the ideology of ISIS threatens the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and the people should not accept it.

According to him, ISIS uses religious issues in disseminating its propaganda, and is feared to easily influence people who have low religious education. But, the Indonesian government has denounced the propagation of the ISIS ideology in the country since it runs contrary to the state philosophy of Pancasila.

During a congress of the Alkhairaat Islamic women on Wednesday, in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin stated that ISIS posed a serious threat not only to Indonesia but also the other parts of the world. Saifuddin remarked that the Ministry of Religious Affairs had discussed the gravity of the situation with the police, state intelligence agency, and the military, so that they remain alert in order to thwart the spread of the ISIS ideology.
