Muslims in Biak donate 55 million IDR for Palestinians

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BIAK - Muslims in the Biak Numfor District, Papua, have collected donation worth 55,370,300 IDR for the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.

"The total amount of donation collected for Gaza residents up to July 28, 2014, was announced before the Eid al Fitri 1435 Hijr prayer," Muhammad Hasan, the secretary for Biak Moslem Solidarity Forum stated on Monday.

Hasan remarked that the solidarity forum expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by several mosques for collecting donations for Palestine. He hopes that the humanitarian aid from Biak people can ease the plight of women, children, and other civilians in Gaza Strip who are victims of Israeli aggression.

Earlier, Chairman of the Islamic Day Andi Firman Madjadi expressed his hope that the humanitarian fund donated by the Muslims in Biak could assist the Palestinian people to fulfill their necessities of medicines and food.

"The donation for Palestinian people from our organization and the Indonesian Ulama Committee is tangible evidence of humanity towards each other," he pointed out.
