REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said the six toll road sections to be built inside the Jakarta City would cost about Rp42 trillion.

"The investment for the toll road construction is high because most of the toll roads are elevated or constructed over existing road corridors," the minister said on Friday.

The minister said that the development of the toll road sections was a unique project because inside the toll road busway lanes will also be built, which will not disturb the traffic in the toll roads. Special busway stops have been developed in the road sections so that passengers can also use public transportation through the toll roads.

He said that the six toll road sections within Jakarta City had a total length of 69.77 kilometers consisting of three stages of development. The first stage has a length of 29.67 kilometers, covering the Semanan-Sunter and the Sunter-Pulo Gebang areas scheduled to operate from 2018 and 2019, respectively.

The second stage has a length of 22.25 kilometers, covering the Duri Pulo-Kampung Melayu and Kemayoran-Kampung Malayu areas scheduled for operation from 2021. In the meantime, the third stage has a stretch of 17.86 kilometers connecting the Ulujami-Tanah Abang and Pasar Minggu-Casablance areas. They are expected to commence operations from 2022.
