REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Presidential candidate No. 1, Prabowo Subianto rejected presidential election held of General Election Commission (KPU) on Tuesday. He made the announcement in a press conference at Polonia House.
"After observing the presidential election process held by KPU, we found many flaws threatening democratic rights of Indonesian citizens," Prabowo said.
Prabowo said that there were five reasons behind his rejection. First, the election is tarnished with some problems and undemocratic flaws and contrary to Indonesia's 1945 Constitution. Second, KPU has ignored Election Monitoring Agency (Bawaslu) despite some electoral violations in some areas.
Third, the election has tarnished with fraud cases. Forth, KPU always refers any electoral dispute to Constitutional Court (MK), while the problem is internal within KPU. Fifth, Prabowo accused the elections flaws were massive, structured, and systemic.
"Hence, we will use our constitutional rights to reject the presidential election 2014," he said.
