REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - As a number of black campaign cases arising ahead presidential election on July 9, head of Prabowo-Hatta campaign team, Mahfud MD said that the team did not need to counter them.
"Black campaign has no reliable source nor people creating it," former chief justice of Indonesian Constitutional Court said on Tuesday.
His comment is related to a fake wiretap transcript between PDIP chairwoman, Megawati Soekarnoputri and Attorney General, Basrief Arief concerning a graft case related to Transjakarta buses procurement project worth 1.5 trillion IDR in 2013. The transcript described Megawati lobbying Arief to protect presidential candidate Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo -as Jakarta governor- from legal process on allegation of the corruption case.
"I do not believe the fake wiretap transcript. I read the transcript and I concluded from the language that it was not Megawati," Mahfud added.
According to Mahfud, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) never recorded the conversation. He expects the case can proceed according to law.
