Talisman Energy starts seismic exploration at Sakakemang block

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Talisman Energy Inc, a global upstream oil and gas company headquartered in Canada through its subsidiary PT Talisman Energy Indonesia (TEI) will carry out a seismic operation at Sakakemang block in Banyuasin, South Sumatra.

South Sumatran governor, Alex Noerdin have met with TEI's VP Government and External Relations, Andi Iwan Uzama on Monday.

"The drilling activity will take time about two years until 2016," Uzama said recently as reported by Maspril Aries.

Company will coordinate with local government to explore the acquired land. In April 2014, Talisman took over 90 percent of working interest at Sakakemang, a prospective oil and gas block located between Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Corridor and PSC Jambi Merang. The seismic exploration will begin in third quarter of this year.

According to Second Assistant Regional Secretary for Economic and Development, Ruslan Bahri explained that any company that invested in South Sumatra should provide benefits for community. Company's CSR program should run.

TEI already operated two existing oil and gas blocks in South Sumatra through Joint Operating Body (JOB) mechanisme, namely JOB Pertamina Talisman Ogan Komering Ltd and Jambi Merang block.
