REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia's Stock Exchange (IDX) is optimistic that both president and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla send positive sentiments toward domestic capital market. IDX company valuation director, Hoesen explained that the Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI) on IDX posted the highest performance since the beginning of 2014 in the world.
"I am optimistic that the presidential election in Indonesia will run well and both candidates provide positive sentiments to capital market," Hoesen said on Monday.
CSPI grew 14.50 percent until May 30, 2014. It was higher than India (14.34 percent), Philippines (12.87 percent), Thailand (9.01 percent), United Kingdom (1.84 percent) and United States (0.74 percent). Index of Japan, Chinese and Hong Kong still experienced negative growth of -10.18 percent, -3.63 percent and -0.96 percent respectively.
