REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Political analyst of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Dahnil Anzar said that the next Indonesian president would face a great challenge in ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015.

According to Anzar on Monday, Indonesia is not ready to compete as local industry development and job vacancy are the most challenging issues. High cost economy will haunt Indonesian local entrepreneurs which in turn makes their products less competitive compared similar products from neighboring countries.

While most of Indonesia's workforce are under-skilled compared to workforce from other ASEAN countries, because more than 50 percent of them graduated from elementary school level.

The next president needs to develop agricultural sector, Anzar said. Indonesian commodities will lose their competitiveness if Thailand and Vietnam products swarmed Indonesian market.

Earlier, Minister of Agriculture, Suswono asked local government to provide regulations and other facilities to improve logistic distribution system, infrastructure development and efficiency.
