Foreign investor permitted to develop 100 percent of tourism business

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director General of Tourism Destination Development in Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Firman Rahim explained that foreign investors were allowed to develop 100 percent of tourism business in Indonesia involving local partner. Indonesia is rich with tourist destinations, but not yet developed optimally.

"Foreign investors can control 100 percent of tourism business as long as they cooperate with local partners," Rahim said on Monday.

Foreign investors are needed to boost tourism destination. Therefore, government continues to encourage investment in the country through tourism programs.

Increased investment will affect tourism sector and people's welfare by creating jobs.

According to Rahim, there are many positive indicators in recent years, such as green economic lifestyle, which is environmentally friendly can give brighter prospects to Indonesia. Indonesia has many biodiversities and indigenous people to develop nature tourism and eco-tourism.
