Jakarta to target 2.5 million foreign tourists in 2014

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta provincial government targets 2.5 million foreign tourists to visit Jakarta in 2014. Head Department of Tourism and Culture, Arie Budhiman said that Jakarta also targeted 38 local tourists this year by holding 48 art festivals and cultural activities to attract more tourists.

"We expect an increase from 2.3 million foreign tourists in 2013 to 2.5 million foreign tourists this year," Budhiman said recently. 

Private parties also create more than 200 activities this year, from April to December 2014, such as Jakarta's anniversary on June 22, 2014. Jakarta's statistic agency recorded that number of foreign tourist arrival in February 2014 has reached 185,851. Most of the tourists come from Malaysia (25,978 visits), China (24,704 visits), Japan (17,622 visits), Singapore (14,674 people), South Korea (8,724 people), Saudi Arabia (8.312 people) , United States (6,849 people) , Taiwan (5,635 people) , India (5,607 people)  and Australia (5,576 people).
