S Korea's investment reaches 50 million USD in Batam

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM - South Korean investment value in trade zone and free port area in Batam has reached 50 million USD in the last 10 years. Director of One Stop Services and Public Relation of BP Batam, Dwi Djoko Wiwoho said that 23 companies had invested in various industrial sectors, especially in electronics and shipbuilding sectors.

"We are optimistic that more investment will flow here," Wiwoho said on Tuesday.

South Korea plan to invest in Batam-Bintan bridge's construction, which will connect Batam and Bintan island. Sub Director of Public Relations and Publications of BP Batam, Ilham Eka Hartawan said that Batam Concession Agency would promote local investments to East Asian countries, such as Japan and South Korea. Company also promotes it to United States and European countries which currently recover from global crisis.

BP Batam seeks new foreign investment worth 350 million USD and investment realization worth 500 million USD in 2014. Recently Japan have invested 180 million USD in the island.
