ABM Investama works on 10 power plant projects

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Listed energy firm PT ABM Investama  is working on 10 power plant projects. The high demand for electricity opens opportunities for company to develop thermal power plant or renewable energy. Director of Corporate Strategy in ABM Investama, Yovie Priadi said that there were 5-10 potential power plant projects with capacity of 15-400 megawatts (MW).

"ABM Investama is preparing several projects for next five years through our subsidiary, PT Sumberdaya Sewatama," Priado said on Friday as reported by Friska Yolandha.

Some projects are independent power producers supported by company's coal mining operations in Aceh in second half 2014. Company estimated that this business is still promising. The need of electricity in Java and Bali reaches 375 terawatt in next 10 years. Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources projected that the need of electricity in Eastern Indonesia increased 11.2 percent per year.

ABM Investama posted revenue of 777.02 million USD in 2013 with net profit of 4.6 million USD. Contractor and coal segment contributed the highest revenue or 58.06 percent, while the rest came from service segment (36.73 percent) and manufacturing segment (5.21 percent).

Company through its subsidiary managed to increase coal sales by 14 percent or 5.3 million tonnes with revenue of 451.17 million USD. Service segment contributed revenue of 285.38 million USD, while rental of machinery and power plant provided the highest income of 132.93 million USD.
