Japanese diver's body found in Malang

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARAPURA -- A dead body of a Japanese diver who missed with her six fellows in Nusa Lembongan, Bali found in Malang, East Java. Chief Criminal Investigation Unit in Klungkung police, Nyoman Wirajaya said that the characteristic of the dead woman had been announced by Bali Police.

"We have got information about the Japanese tourist from Malang police," Wirajaya said on Sunday.

Family and Japanese consulate in Bali went to Malang to ensure the body. It will be tested for DNA. The woman diver named Shoko Takahashi, one of six Japanese tourists who dive in Jungut Batu mangrove forests, Nusa Lembongan on February 14.

Five divers were found alive four days later, while the other one, Ritsuko Miyata was found dead not far from the location. A joint team stopped to look for Takahashi, the last victim who had not been found. Takahashi married to a man from Bali and stayed in Pamogan region, Denpasar opening a business selling diving equipment.

Some fishermen found the body of 35 year old woman at Sempu waters, Tambakrejo village, Malang on March 14 or one month after that. The body was in a state without her head, right and left wrists and also without right and left legs. Her body was wrapped in a black suit with oxygen tank on her back. Takahashi's body was immediately evacuated at 06.00 PM taken to the nearest hospital.
