President Jokowi holds business forum with Japanese businessmen

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO -- Visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a business forum here on Tuesday with Japanese businesspersons after paying collective courtesy calls on numerous businessmen in the country.

On arrival at the New Otani Hotel, the venue of the forum, President Jokowi was greeted by Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) Chairman Hiroyuki Ishige.

The business forum was held in Tsuru Ballroom of the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo.

After the forum, President Jokowi will attend a luncheon hosted by Japan's Kedanren and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Indonesian president is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with the leaders of numerous companies such as Suzuki, J Power, IHI Corp, JICA, IX NEO, and JBIC, among several others.

On the occasion, Suzuki will report on its investment plan, J Power on the implementation of a power plant in Central Java, and IHI Corp on the expansion of the shipping industry and machine industry in Indonesia. JICA will discuss about the progress of bilateral cooperation, IX NEO on the cooperation plan with state oil company Pertamina to upgrade the oil well capacity in East Kalimantan, and JBIC on the plan of funding some infrastructure and energy projects.

President Jokowi is in Japan on March 22-25 before visiting China and Malaysia.
