REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo or popularly known as Jokowi, declared his presidential candidacy on Friday. Earlier, PDIP's executive board chairwoman, Puan Maharani read the mandate of Megawati Soekarnoputri as chairwoman at PDIP office in South Jakarta.
Jokowi declared his candidacy at a historical house of Jakarta legend, known as Si Pitung, in Marunda, Jakarta.
""I have received a mandate from PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri to be a presidential candidate. Bismillah (means: in the name of God), I am ready to run," Jokowi said on Friday.
Jokowi then kissed Indonesian red and white flag near him. Jokowi will perform his duties as a national campaigner in 2014 general election. Deputy Secretary General of PDIP, Achmad Basarah said that about 120 cadres who served as regional heads would help his campaign, namely Ganjar Pranowo, Teras Narang (Governor of Central Kalimantan) and Cornelis (Governor of West Kalimantan).
