REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono would take a two-day leave on March 17-18, 2014, to participate in election campaigns, an official said.
"We have received a letter from the State Secretariat that stated the president will take leave for election campaigns," General Election Commission (KPU)s commissioner, Ferry Kurnia Rizkiyansyah, said on Wednesday.
He said the head of state would take leave to campaign for the Democratic Party in the Central Java and the East Java electoral regions.
"On March 17, President Yudhoyono will participate in the campaigns at Magelang city and the Magelang district in Central Java and then the next day, on March 18, at the districts of Tulungagung and Blitar in East Java" Ferry added.
Some ministers also on leave
KPU has also received a temporary leave from Minister of Agriculture, Suswono, who also a cadre of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). Next, Minister of Forestry, Zulkifli Hasan as a cadre of National Mandate Party (PAN).
KPU has received some reports about campaigner's names from four parties, namely Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Nasional Democratic (Nasdem), National Awakening Party (PKB) and Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI).
"We must receive all notifications about campaigners and also campaign's leave three days before the opening campaign. It must be submitted to Election Supervisory Committee (Bawaslu) and police," Rizkiansyah said.
The opening campaign will take place on March 16, 2014. The campaign is carried out in specific locations arranged by KPU. Participants can also carry out a general election campaign through mass media. The campaign will lasted for 21 days until April 5, 2014.
