REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Representatives of indigenous people from Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia will meet in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan to discuss deforestation.

The meeting themed International Workshop on Deforestation Drivers and The Rights of Forest Peoples held on March 11-14, 2014. Participants come from Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, Liberia, Cameroon, Congo, Malaysia and Indonesia.

"This meeting aims to share the experience of what happens to community land. We want to find out the cause of forest destruction," Forest People's Programme (FPP) Responsible Finance Program Coordinator, Tom Griffiths said recently.

This meeting will involve a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). They will find out the real impacts of deforestation to their daily life. The recommendations produced from the meeting will be conveyed to the Wold's Conference on Indigenous People 2014.
