Now, passengers of cheap flights must pay extra cost

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Several low cost airlines began to charge their passengers with additional fee or surcharge. The decision was made following the increasing price of aviation fuel (avtur).

Citilink Indonesia for example, started to charge additional cost to its flight fares. on Friday. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Citilink Indonesia, Arif Wibowo said that the surcharge was based on Ministry of Transportation Regulation No. 2/2014 with the additional cost of 75 thousand IDR per flight.

"We believe that the surcharge will help national aviation industry to become healthier since the extra money is intended to cover the operating costs due to the rupiah depreciation and also the high cost of aviation fuel above 10 thousand IDR," Wibowo said recently.

The cheapest additional cost is 27,500 IDR for Jakarta - Semarang route departed from Halim Perdanakusuma airport. It is followed by 

in Halim Perdana Kusumah airport with route of  worth , followed by route of 

Batam-Pekanbaru route (31,900 IDR), Surabaya-Denpasar (36,300 IDR) and Lombok-Surabaya (40,700 IDR). The biggest additional cost is for Bandung-Medan route, worth 144,100 IDR, followed by Jakarta-Medan (134,200 IDR), Jakarta-Makassar (132,000 IDR) and Jakarta -Balikpapan (124,300 IDR). Garuda Indonesia started to increase its ticket on Wednesday and Sriwijaya Air in the next day.
