Bulog distributes 100 tonnes of rice to Sinabung refugees

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN - State Logistics Agency (Bulog) distributes 100 tonnes of rice to Mount Sinabung refugees in Karo, North Sumatra. Head of Regional in Bulog Medan, Fasika Khaerul Zaman said that the rice was distributed to Karo regency (50 tonnes) and other areas (50 tonnes).

"We fulfill requests from North Sumatra provincial government and Karo regency," Zaman said on Saturday.

Since September 2013, Bulog has distributed 33.2 tonnes of rice to Karo regency (28.2 tonnes) and other areas (5 tonnes). The distribution will continue to run smoothly as the rice stock in North Sumatra is safe untill the first half of 2014. Currently North Sumatra has 70 thousand tonnes of rice stock which is considered adequate until the first half of 2014. 

North Sumatra governor, Gatot Pujo Nugroho said that the provincial government would maintain its coordination with Karo regency. Earlier, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stressed that local government must work hard to help the refugees.
