REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The main cement producer in Indonesia, PT Semen Indonesia is optimistic to maintain its position as major player in the country and produce 40 millions tonnes in 2017 annually. President Director of Semen Indonesia, Dwi Soetjipto explained that company's market share was 45 percent of national production capacity of 65 to 68 million tonnes in 2013.
"We produced 30 million tonnes during last year. We are optimistic to reach production of 40 million tonnes in 2017 after operating two new plants, Gresik cemen plant in Tuban and Tonasa in Pangkep," Soetjipto said recently.
Soetjipto is optimistic that Indonesia can be self sufficient to fulfill domestic demands. Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) recorded that current production capacity reached 65 to 68 million tonnes, while the demand reached 60 million tonnes. In 2017, the production is predicted to reach 90 to 95 million tonnes while the demand is around 75 million tonnes.
