REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina will monitor illegal LPG cylinder distribution, particularly packaging of three kilogram (kg) cylinder that does not meet the criteria of Indonesian National Standards (SNI).

Pertamina's Marketing and Commercial Director, Hanung Budya said that he had asked all agents and LPG filling stations to reject suspicious LPG cylinders if they did not meet Pertamina's standard.

"We will suspend business license of any agents or LPG filling stations if they fill LPG into illegal cylinder," Budya said recently.

There are many illegal LPG cylinders distributed in some regions in Indonesia. The cylinders are manufactured illegally and sold directly to consumers without Pertamina's license.

The illegal cylinders endanger consumers' safety due to poor quality. Pertamina has coordinated to the police and related agencies, such as Ministry of Industry.
