Lawyer team to gather more evidence to acquit Soik

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR - Lawyer team of Wilfrida Soik gather more evidence to sharpen its defense strategy for the next trial. Soik is a 20 year old Indonesian migrant worker from Belu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) facing death penalty in Malaysia. 

Soik's case has raised public sympathy in Indonesia, particularly over the allegedly being tortured that led her to kill Yeap Seok Pen (60 years), Soik's employer. The leawyers will also question neighbors on circumstance leading to Yeap's death.

The court is led by Judge Dato'Azmad Zaidi bin lbrahim with Prosecutor Puan Julia Abraham. Five of seven witnesses are called to testify. Two of witnesses have been present and two other witnesses will be questioned at next trial on January 19, 2014. The justice examined Yeap's medical record from Dr Wan Mohd Zamri in the previous trial. Dr Zamri treated Yeap for parkinson's disease and provided anti-depressant medication.
