REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono sent his best wishes on Republika's 21st anniversary on Saturday, Jan 4, 2014. He put the wishes on his Twitter account. 

"Happy 21st anniversary, Republika. Keep up your good work on educating the nation," the president wrote.

Republika daily newspaper was published for the first time on January 4, 1993. The broadsheet newspaper got its name from the second Indonesian president, Soeharto.

Greetings also came from House of Representatives' Speaker Marzuki Alie  He said that Republika had been able to prove its existence in printed media industry and survive in the middle of tough competition among media.

According to him, the age of 21 years is the symbol of maturity. One of distinctive characters of Republika compared to other media publications is its content on Islam. With such specific character, he believes that Republika will survive until then.
