REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Ministry of Communication and Information Technology predicts that Indonesia will start using telecommunications network technology of fourth generation (4G) which used long term evolution (LTE) version of Time Division Duplex in third quarter of 2014. Head of Information and Public Relation in the Ministry, Gatot S Dewa Broto said that 2,300 MHz frequency band was ready for the implementation.

Broto said that Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (BRTI) had conducted a study of possible use of 2,300 to 2,360 MHz frequency band for telecommunication technology beside LTE. Government will also prioritize the arrangement of 1,800 Mhz frequency spectrum for 4G or LTE network.

"We are also studying the use of 1,800 MHz frequency, which can be gradually utilized as LTE network," Broto said recently.

The adoption of LTE network technology will depend on the arrangement of 1,800 MHz frequency band and 850 MHz frequency for CDMA-LTE version. Application of LTE network is also determined by telecommunication operator as network provider.
