Baikonur tourism development discussed in Kazakhstan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ASTANA -- A meeting on the development of South Kazakhstan's tourism potential was held in the Kyzylorda province of Kazakhstan on Dec.25 with participation of the chairman of the committee of tourism industry of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, Marat Igaliyev, the ministry said. In particular, the Baikonur complex is of interest from the tourism point of view in this region.

Azeri's Trend reported, the implementation of the 'Master plan for the establishment and development of the tourism cluster of the Kyzylorda region by 2016' worked out by the Kazakh Tourism Association was considered at the meeting.

Currently, the tourism industry committee jointly with interested Kazakh state bodies is holding talks with the Russian side on the establishment of a proper tourism infrastructure.

The implementation of the programme for the development of promising areas of the tourist industry for 2010-2014, envisages measures for the establishment of a tourism cluster along the international Western Europe - Western China transport corridor which was also considered at the meeting.

Marat Igaliyev visited the project for construction of the tourism infrastructure around the Korkyt Ata memorial complex. The project is being implemented by Kazakh investors.
