REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bayt Kaboki Hotel becomes the first Islamic hotel in Bali. The hotel that located in Kuta has conducted a soft launch on October 15 and the grand launch will be held this December. The hotel are built in area of 4,500 square meters, which 50 percent is green open spaces. It has 68 rooms.
Vice Chairman of Bayt Kaboki Hotel, Abdhie Mulyawan said that Muslim travelers in Bali were difficult to find halal food and comfortable place to pray. It was the reason to build Bayt Kaboki Hotel.
"Many foreign tourists who do not like to drink alcoholic beverages came with their families to Bali. They need to be accommodated," Mulyawan said recently.
Islamic hotel market has high potential in Indonesia. To open a sharia hotel in Bali required struggle harder. The hotel and also its restaurants have also been certified halal. Mulyawan admitted that the hotel facilities were still less than another hotels in Bali. But, he tried hard to follow Islamic principles.
In three days, there are about 30 rooms are rented. Next month, hotel rooms are full booked for a few days. Mulyawan hopes consumers feel comfortable and safe at Bayt Kaboko Hotel. He also asked hoteliers to open sharia hotels in Bali.
Chairman of Indonesian Sharia Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHSIN), Riyanto Sofyan rejoiced over the opening of the first Islamic hotel in Bali.
"With the increase of sharia hotel business in Indonesia, Muslim travelers are not only coming to Malaysia, but also Indonesia," Sofyan said.
Malaysia now has 366 sharia hotels. Movement of Islamic Economics (GRES!) expects to develop sharia hotel and tourism in Indonesia. This country currently has 50 to 100 sharia hotels. However, there are only seven hotels that have pocketed Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) certification.
