Garuda Indonesia opens direct flight Jakarta-London in November

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALIKPAPAN - Director of Sales and Marketing at Garuda Indonesia, Erik Meijer said the state-owned airline would open a direct flight from Jakarta to London on November 15, 2013.

"Previously, airplane must fly from Sydney,  transit in Jakarta and then to London. Now, we open direct flight from Jakarta to London," Meijer said on Sunday.

The airline will use Boeing 777-300 ER aicraft with capacity of 440 passengers and fly at least four times a week. Garuda has got two jumbo jet that is began on July 2. Until 2015, Garuda will own and operate 10 units of Boeing 777-300 ER.

After Europe lift the ban on Indonesian airlines, Garuda begins to operate Jakarta-Amsterdam route then Sydney-Jakarta-London. The airlines also provides first class service. This also can be a common alternative flight to transit in Abu Dhabi.

Garuda also develop domestic routes, for example iIn Kalimantan the national aircraft would open flight from Balikpapan to Tarakan in North Borneo. The other flight destinations are Berau, Manado and Banjarmasin. All new flights would use Boeing 737 Bombardier with a capacity of 150 passengers.
