Former Army Chief of Staff joins Democratic Party

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Former Army Chief of Staff, Gen (Ret) Pramono Edhie Wibowo also the brother of first lady, Ani Yudhoyono, recently joined Democratic Party. He has now served as member of Board of Trustees.

"I want to help President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and work together," Wibowo said on Sunday.

Wibowo also said he were often asked about his activities after retirement . Yudhoyono, after served as general chairman also asked him to think of some possibilities, included to join Democratic Party. Wibowo confirmed that he had carefully considered related to his decision, included discussion with his family.

Despite officially entered the Democratic Party, Wibowo is not to be the sole candidate in the convention of  the Democratic Party Presidential Candidate. Chief Executive of the Democratic Party, Syarif Hasan explained the party bearing the mercy star not yet to bring or promote Wibowo or any other internal figures to the convention. 

"Convention of Democratic Party is conducted semi-open. So, everyone can participate and they have same opportunities. We are not candidating anyone," Hasan said.
