REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Five state universities in Indonesia will form a consortium to strengthen global health policy. The five state universities are Gadjah Mada University (UGM), General Sudirman University, Diponegoro University, Andalas University anad Moelawarman University.
"Through this consortium, the five universities agreed to carry out some activities that could be used in global health policy maker," said Coordinator of Consortium who also a lecturer at UGM, Yodi Mahendradata said on Friday.
The team will conduct some activities namely strengthening of research infrastructure, research capacity building, research networks and collaborative research. Funding for these activities will be provided in collaboration with Seamolec at Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as German Ministry of Education.
The consortium will also develop several areas for research over the next 5-10 years. It is important to capture comprehensive data related to health. At least, there are four areas in Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan, which will be used as a pilot project by the consortium. Global health issues that will be examined such as maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
