Borobudur International Festival targets 100 million visitors

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG - Provincial government of Central Java is preparing variety cultural arts events, exhibitions and seminars of selected products. The events are part of Borobudur International Festival on June 13-17, 2013.

Head of Promotion Department of Tourism in Central Java, Trenggono said the festival was part of Visits Central Java program. This is the third times after the previous festival in 2003 and 2009.

"The festival is expected to increase visitors 5,000 to 8,000 people per day. In four days, number of visitors is expected to reach 100 million people," Trenggono said on Wednesday.

The increase in number of tourists is expected to have positive impacts including the increasing of profit from tourist spending and high hotel occupancy rates.

Borobudur International Festival will also hold Borobudur Travel Mart on June 14-16, as well as the International Heritage Seminar on June 14-15 in Grand Artos Aerowisata. Arts and culture performances at Borobudur will be enlivened by domestic and foreign participants. Some artists and musicians involve in this event are Paulus Orchestra collaborating with Bartholomeus van de Velde, Oge Arthemus (national magician), Hip Hop Djoyodiningrat, and Heritage Cities Network.
