REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will cut hajj pilgrim quota in 2013 by 42 thousands pilgrims due to some reconstruction projects in two holy mosque in Mecca and Medina. The reduction number applies to all countries including Indonesia.
Originally Indonesia has 211 thousands hajj pilgrims every year and the cut represent 20 percent of the total yearly number. Minister of Religious Affairs Suryadharma Ali said he had receive an official letter from the Saudi government.
Since the number has been fixed, the ministry will negotiate Saudi government not to cut more than 42 thousands hajj pilgrims.
Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Musthafa bin Ibrahim al-Mubarak, earlier mentioned that the reduced quota implemented not only to Indonesia but to all countries.
