Currency in circulation reaches 392.2 trillion IDR

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - During April 2012, total currency in circulation at Bank Indonesia (BI) was recorded at 392.2 trillion IDR. It increased by 12.6 percent compared to 348.2 trillion IDR in April 2012.

Executive Director of Department of Monetary Management at BI, Lambok Antonius Siahaan said the money inflow reached 29.7 trillion IDR, while the money outflow reached 24.4 trillion on this April. 

"That's huge," Siahaan said on Saturday.

Siahaan added BI had a responsibility to task the money management. Mission of Department of Monetary Management is the availability of money in the currency sufficient nominations.

To facilitate the implementation of currency transaction, BI holds 'Bye Law' or a written agreement between banks in the implementation of currency transactions. 

Director Head of Group Policy Monetary Management at BI, Eko Yulianto said excess-currency bank was advised to transact with other bank suffering fro, currency shortage to avoid idle money.
