SBY meets new ASEAN Secretary General

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia welcomes , the new Secretary General of ASEAN, Le Luong Minh and ready to cooperate with him to carry out ASEAN programs and head towards ASEAN community 2015, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) stated.

"Your role is important and Indonesia is ready to cooperate," SBY said while receiving Le Luong Minh in State Palace on Monday. "We have to encourage many things to ensure the readiness of ASEAN Community Architecture," he added.

Minh, the former Vietnam's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, replaces his predecessor, Surin Pitsuwan, on January 9, 2013. During inauguration ceremony, Minh re-emphasized the tasks that ASEAN has consistently pursued over the past 46 years. One of his focus is to finalize the Code of Conduct on the South China Sea.
