REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta City Administration plans to operate Transjakarta for 24 hours in the end of 2013. Local government claims that this is an effort to prevent crime in other public transportations.

The Head of Transportation Department in Jakarta City Administration, Udar Pristono, said the 'night Transjakarta' would be called Amari (night transportation). It will be operated from 23:00 to 05:00.

"We are still in preparation stage," he said on Wednesday. He admitted that the bus used for Amari would be used buses from Corridor I (Blok M-Kota). 

"Some still need repairment and there are 90 buses that will be used for all corridors," he said. Government will also provide securities in each stop to prevent any crime. By operating Transjakarta, government aims to minimize the number of criminal acts in Jakarta, which usually happens at night.
