REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo, or known as Jokowi, appoints consultants from Singapore to build mass rapid transportation (MRT) in Jakarta following his visit to Singapore over the weekend.

"We asked for Singapore MRT companies to be our consultants because we must start of the project this month," Jokowi said on Monday, then added that he could not find local expert on MRT in Jakarta.

"We need their assistance. We will also have Japan for the planning and execution," he said.

The paperwork on MRT project would be completed soon in the coming weeks, he said.

During his visit to Singapore, Jokowi was accompanied by Governor Assistant for Development and Environment, Wiryatmoko, and the Head of Jakarta Development Planning Agency (BPPD), Sarwo Handayani.
