REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Industry, MS Hidayat, encourages mobile phone company from South Korea, Samsung, to invest in Indonesia. Indonesia imported 150 million mobile phones in 2012 worth 4.5 billion USD. Samsung contributed to 1.2 billion USD.
"Samsung wants incentive. They said Trade Ministerial Regulation No. 82 and 83/ 2012 was an obstacle, but I reminded them to invest in Indonesia immediately," Hidayat said on Tuesday.
The Trade Ministerial Regulation No. 82 rules the importation of mobile phone, handset, and tablet computer, while Trade Ministerial Regulation No. 83 regulates the importation of certain products.
"We will talk about the incentives if they are committed to invest," he said then added, if Samsung skip the investment opportunity this year, then it would have to compete with other big investors next year.
