Boy Thohir Prepares ADRO Stock Buyback

Indonesian capital market has excellent long-term prospects.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — National entrepreneur Garibaldi “Boy” Thohir again showed his commitment to strengthening Indonesia's capital market by planning to buy back PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia Tbk (ADRO) shares. This action of the corporation takes the form of support to the national economy and increased participation of domestic investors.

Boy Thohir added that the buyback plan also reflects confidence in the company's fundamentals and the long-term prospects of the energy and natural resources sector in Indonesia. “I believe that ADRO and the Indonesian capital market have very good long-term prospects,” Boy Thohir said on Monday (16/3/2026).

Buybacks are repurchases of shares that have been outstanding on the market. This move is generally done by the company to increase shareholder value, maintain the stability of the stock price, as well as demonstrate management's confidence in the company's performance.

Based on the disclosure of company information, Alamtri plans buybacks with a maximum value of Rp4 trillion. The repurchase of the shares will be carried out through the Indonesia Stock Exchange in stages within a maximum period of 12 months after obtaining approval from the General Meeting of Shareholders.

The company also submitted that the plan refers to a number of capital market regulations. Some of these regulations, among others, Financial Services Authority Regulation No. 29 of 2023 on the Repurchase of Shares by Open Companies, OJK Regulation No. 15 of 2020 regarding the planning and holding of GMS of open companies, and the Limited Liability Company Act which has been updated through regulations related to Job Creation.
